Note Sometimes Callicarpa glabra Koidzumi (Japanese common name = shima-murasaki) might be thought as a synonym of Callicarpa japonica var. luxurians. However, Callicarpa glabra is independent species from Callicarpa japonica var. luxurians and endemic to Ogasawara Islands.
